Ever wonder
why the exercise dropout
rate is so high? Between
20-50% of new exercisers
quit after the first year.
It's not due to lack of
skill or time. The #1
reason people stop exercising
is lack of motivation.

There's no doubt about
it -- lifestyle change
can be difficult. While
a supportive environment
(family, friends, co-workers)
certainly makes commitment
to a fitness program easier,
the motivation necessary
to make exercise a life-long
habit has to come from
within. One of the keys
to staying motivated is
focusing on activities
you enjoy. You are much
more likely to stick with
a program that not only
promotes health and fitness
benefits, but also brings
some amount of pleasure
and enjoyment.
It's
also helpful to record
your progress on a chart
that can be reviewed to
reinforce all of the positive
results of your program
and to stick to a schedule
-- behavior that's repeated
at established and consistent
times, quickly becomes
habit.
